You know what about being Korean that I’m damn proud of?

Korean cinema.

Aside from animations which I admit the Japanese fellas are best at, I think it’s safe to say 21st century Korean cinema is the best type of Eastern cinema (If you think otherwise, get at me bro). You get Oldboy, Spring Summer Autumn Winter….and Spring, Taegukgi, My Sassy Girl, Memories of Murder

The entertainment industry here is incredibly advanced too. Even though I don’t like kpop personally, it’s become an international sensation and y’all, that’s kind of cool. I’m not a huge supporter of a society where television/music stars are worshipped and people’s lives are revolved around catching up with the latest entertainment news and whatnot, but hey, it’s the new age and I think it’s nice that Korea’s become less conservative, more modern thanks to its booming teen culture. I’d love to work here in the future, but we’ll see. I love the States too. For example, Amurica definitely beats in television shows, no doubt.

This is really irrelevant but I’m turning 19 in 2 days….eeek I’m an old lady.

Posted this same thing on Tumblr by the way. I update that

Wow

I haven't updated this blog at all, but I just wanted to say I spent hours just now reading professional online film criticisms and they make mine seem completely amateur and immature (hah, it rhymes). I feel like I never notice subtle visual clues, symbolisms, color juxtaposition, and irony. For example, I just watched Fellini's La Strada and failed to notice that The Fool is first shown wearing wings and performing high-wire acts and in the next scene, he is walking on the ground without wings like Satan on Eden, on a mission to tempt mankind. UGH HOW COME SOME PEOPLE CAN WRITE THESE BEAUTIFUL ANALYSES THAT MAKE COMPLETE SENSE? Hopefully going to film school changes all that. Oh, did I say I am like insanely excited for college? Well, I am insanely excited for college.

Anyway, if you guys are into reading in depth film reviews even if I know every single one of you reading this probably isn't, check out http://www.criterionconfessions.com/ and http://www.criterion.com/.
Ok, that is it. Have a great day!

I made a tumblr (again for the millionth time) because I wanted to actually keep up with my friends' posts and it seemed like many NYUers had one. It's www.coolhandnora.tumblr.com so follow me! I haven't been up to much other than watching movies NONSTOP. In AP Euro the entire last week and this week, we've just been watching really great European movies one day after another. It's great. The other day, my mom was saying how I watch one movie a week and I felt offended. I have a blog called 100 films 1 year mom.....Anyway, we're doing a Tableaux Vivants or "Living Pictures" in that class and performing it in June. My group is doing Luncheon at the Boating Party by Renoir and I'm really excited. I get to be that girl in the front holding a yorkshire terrier and I get to bring in my dog to school.......yeah, sweet.
In case you don't know what a Tableaux Vivants is, here is a video that shows a glimpse at what it's going to be like. And like, they had it in last week's Modern Family episode so it's kind of a big deal.

are not quite over, but I only have one left this afternoon (AP Euro) and I woke up early to ditch school and study for it, but look what I'm doing now....Here is a video of how I'm going to react if I don't get a 4 on the test.
And I was going through the pictures on my computer, and this one still makes me laugh.
Remember when college admissions/rejections kept coming like every other day and we got multiple heart attacks per week? SO GLAD that's over with. That freaked me out so badly and I still have cold sores from the stress booo. Anyway, I'm going to go back to studying.....or maybe praying. Whichever I find will be more effective and logical in helping me get a better score.

Y'ALL

So I hope you guys are having a great week! I am quite overwhelmed at school and my senioritis is clashing too hard with my super high ego that Nora Chang does not get Cs. Anyway, as soon as AP exams are over with in a month life is going to be so incredibly swell. I'm going to Korea for 6 weeks from June 27th to August 3rd. Before going to Korea, I have some small trips planned to California Adventures with some friends and my church senior class trip wherever it will be! School starts on September 4th so I think I will find work and earn some bucks for the month I will have in between. Hopefully, I get to go to Outside Lands in mid-August if any of my friends are willing to go with me. My family also booked hotels in Los Cabos for this upcoming Thanksgiving break! Which is so far away from now but I am so excited. And ooh, I am going to start volunteering at the San Diego American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) starting next week! I get to whip out my feminist, pro-gay rights, pro-minority, just pro-everything socially liberal views and actually get to help out with the cause I feel very strongly in. SO STOKED YOU GUYS. And as far as track, I got my personal record in long jump ever and I got a personal record for the 100 and 200 meters for this season.
:)
And because I quit my unhealthy turntable.fm addiction around a week ago, I am badly in need of music recommendations. Trip-hop, folk, indie rock, movie score, classical....ya know what I like. GO.

I'm Miss Chang. They should've have used an actual Asian girl though. Like, maybe even a half.

Soooooooooo, I am officially committed to NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Film Production!
The only factor that may alter my decision would be if I were offered admission from Northwestern University School of Communications off the wait list in late May, but we'll see. NYU is still so, so, so freaking awesome though and I have not been in this great of a mood since I were eleven and discovered Taco Bell for the very first time. AND, I am on spring break currently! I've been spending it productively, staying in touch with friends, practicing driving, going out to track practice, shopping, studying for my AP exams, watching movies and writing reviews, praising hard at church, reading etc, etc.
As far as shop updates, here is a recent and particular favorite of mine from H&M and it is honestly THE most comfortable jacket I had the honor of owning. In other news....
NORA IS READING (and it's not school-assigned, dun dun dun)! That has not occurred since 8th grade so can y'all please give me a round of applause? And in case you can't read that, it's 1984 by George Orwell. I really liked Animal Farm so hopefully this is good too. You know what I've realized though? If you write a book or make a movie about a totalitarian, oppressive government in a futuristic society, chances are it's going to be very critically successful. Hmph, just a thought for my future movie-making career. And as far as my future meme-making career is concerned...
I would love to popularize Nora the Sassy World Traveller meme on the internet. Nah, but can you guys guess which one is real?? Okay, well that is the end of my chit-chat. I hope you guys reading this are having a fun-filled, awesome week.

To start off, can I just get it out there that I look the most fabulous when I run?
Those new uniforms give me the worst wedgies and camel toes. They are A.W.F.U.L.
Anyway, here are my college updates.
LMU, UCSD, UCSB aw yeaaaaah.
Y'all are crazy for picking me to attend, but thank you!!
Just had a rainy, rainy weekend and spent most of it sitting in the balcony with an umbrella and getting wet nonetheless.
And....
I'm going to miss this little sucker once I go to college.
I was looking through old photos (typical) and came across a 10-week Monica picture!!!! I am dead.

And I never ever buy a dress so this is kind of a big deal. In other news, my 200 meter time went from 30.42 freshman year to an alarming time of 34.74 :'(

Had a French philosophy salon for AP Euro to discuss Voltaire's Candide on Sunday! Had some incredible Bulgarian/Eastern European dinner with a ton of baguette for appetizer and macaroons for desserts, ugh. What would my life be if I hadn't taken this class. It surely counteracts the evils of AP Calc.
And Brianna posted a couple pictures from the ROP photo shoot last week on Facebook. Here is my best attempt at photoshopping myself with red hair. I can't wait to go to college and do insane things to my hair and body, HAH. Not really, but dying (dyeing?) my hair sounds ideal.
And here is a picture just for funsies.
